OK, electricity itself isn't actually changing, that would be a bit scary. But the way it's produced is changing.
The pace of change seems to have speeded up lately - the internet has become something people access from a phone. Electric cars are on sale. Eggs cost about four times what they used to cost. This were all fields when I were a lad. And so on.
The biggest change in electricity production is the move away from coal fired power stations. Amazing structures though they were (just look at Battersea power Station for awesomeness) coal burning is yesterday's way generating the juice. Electricity companies now use a mix of sources, with renewables on the increase, and more on the way if government renewables targets are any indication of the future.
For the consumer, the next big change is going to be how electricity use is measured in the home - with smart monitors that give the user a whole lot more knowledge about their energy use. And as we all know knowledge is power - green power.
